The Long Road of Recovery, Again
I met with a surgeon and underwent a procedure to repair the muscles. Unfortunately, the news wasn't what I hoped for. The doctor was unable to repair the damage. Apparently, there were previous underlying issues and damage to the muscle, which left it too thin to reattach.
I spent four months in physical therapy and was eventually cleared to return to work. However, the transition has been incredibly difficult. My arm still tells a story of pain that hasn't quite healed:
Persistent Pain: I experience soreness and sharp pain during movements I used to take for granted, like climbing ladders.
Sensitivity: Nerve damage has made my arm and hand extremely sensitive to touch.
Physical Limits: I cannot carry significant weight, and I often feel a sensation like something is going to "rip" inside—which my surgeon believes is scar tissue.
Even though I was told it would improve with time, my arm hasn't felt any better in the month since I was released to work.
Facing New Health Hurdles
While dealing with my arm, another challenge began to surface: my tremors, shakes, and balance issues. These have progressively worsened to the point that I was tested for seizures. While those tests came back negative, the shakes are now a daily occurrence.
Interestingly, my wife tells me I have significant shakes while I'm asleep, which I don't even notice. I’m still working with my neurologist to find the root cause, but we don't have clear answers or solutions just yet.
Life in Limbo
The combination of my arm injury and these neurological symptoms—affecting my balance and steady movement—has made my job duties feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Currently, I am not working while my doctor reviews fitness-for-duty paperwork.

However, being in "limbo" hasn't stopped my desire to create and work. I have been leaning into my hobby of working with epoxy resin, which allows me to keep using my hands in a controlled way. Additionally, I am exploring a new path by trying to start a drone business. It’s a way to stay technical and active while adapting to my current physical limitations.
Embracing New Opportunities
Starting a drone business is not just a career shift; it’s a chance to redefine my path. I see the potential in drone photography and videography. The aerial perspectives can enhance visuals for various projects, from real estate to events. This new venture aligns with my goal to provide clients with stunning imagery that meets their project needs.
The drone industry is growing rapidly. Many businesses are looking for ways to incorporate aerial footage into their marketing strategies. I believe that my background in maintenance and my technical skills will serve me well in this new field.
The Power of Creativity
Creativity has always been a part of my life. Working with epoxy resin has been therapeutic. It allows me to express myself while managing my physical limitations. Each piece I create tells a story, much like my journey.
I find joy in the process of making something beautiful from raw materials. This creative outlet has helped me cope with my challenges. It reminds me that even in difficult times, I can still find ways to create and innovate.
Looking Ahead
As I navigate this challenging period, I remain hopeful. I am focused on my health and exploring new opportunities. The journey may be tough, but I am committed to finding a new normal.
I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Whether through my drone business or my epoxy resin creations, I will continue to push forward. Each day is a step toward recovery and new beginnings.
In conclusion, while my path has changed, my determination to succeed remains strong. I am ready to embrace the future, one day at a time.
